How to Unlock the iPhone 3G running 3.0

by lightmaster on Jun.24, 2009, under Guides, iPhone 3G

The Info:

“I think the weather is getting colder… :D ” -planetbeing The Dev Team has now released Ultrasn0w, the latest in the growing lineup of sn0w products. Ultrasn0w does one thing and it does that one thing VERY well: it unlocks the  iPhone 3G running 3.0. That means that if you have an iPhone 3G, regardless of your baseband or bootloader, you can unlock it to use it on any other carrier. Caution: ultrasn0w only supports the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 2G is not supported.

The Requirements:

  1. iPhone 3G running 3.0
  2. A SIM card for any network besides AT&T.
  3. An internet connections

The Process:

  1. If you haven’t already, upgrade to 3.0 with this guide: Update iPhone/iTouch to Official 3.0.
  2. If you haven’t already, jailbreak your iPhone with this guide (its pretty much the same if you’re on Windows): Update iPhone/iTouch to Official 3.0.
  3. If you are using T-Mobile on your iPhone 3G, be sure to turn off 3G BEFORE installing ultrasn0w.
  4. If you haven’t already, insert your SIM card.
  5. Open Cydia.
  6. Add the repo: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia. (that’s ultrasn0w with the number “zero”, not the letter “o”.)
  7. Click “Search” in the bottom-right corner of Cydia.
  8. Search for “ultrasn0w” (again, that’s ultrasn0w with the number “zero”, not the letter “o”.)
  9. Install “ultrasn0w”.
  10. Reboot your iPhone.

Congrats! Your iPhone should now be unlocked on whatever network you want to use! :D
