Jailbreak iTouch 2g 2.2.1 – Mac
by lightmaster on Jun.04, 2009, under Guides, iTouch 2g
The Info:
Ok. You have a iTouch 2g and you want to jailbreak it. The first thing you need to know is that the process to jailbreak it is not the same as jailbreaking the iPhone 2G, 3G, and iTouch 1g. On a Mac, you have to use a command line program to jailbreak it. Don’t worry, thought. Even if you never used Terminal, or even if you’ve never heard of Terminal, its still very easy and almost anyone can do it.
Requirments:
- Mac OS X 10.5.4+
- iTouch 2g
- Internet access on your Mac
The Process:
- Download the necessary software:
- Put your iTouch 2g into DFU Mode (see “How to Enter DFU Mode“)
- Start Terminal. Terminal is located at “/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app”
- Open the folder you downloaded redsn0w into.
- In Terminal, type “cd ” (note the space after cd)
- Click and drag the redsn0w folder from Finder into Terminal and press Enter
- Type into Terminal: “./redsn0w”
- Site back and watch your iTouch 2g jailbreak. Your iTouch’s screen will tell you what’s going on. It should reboot when its finished jailbreaking. Once its done, its best to run Cydia to make sure you have the most up-to-date software on your iTouch.
